Some business ideas begin with a market opportunity. Others begin with a personal realization.
For me, ARCHVD began with a simple thought: I wish I had captured that moment differently.
Over the years, I’ve hosted birthdays, family gatherings, celebrations, and other events that brought important people together. We took plenty of pictures on our phones, but those images were often scattered across different devices, social media accounts, and group messages. Some guests appeared in dozens of photos, while others were barely photographed at all.
The events were memorable, but I began realizing that we could have been more intentional about preserving them.
The Moment That Made It Personal
That feeling became even stronger after my son’s first birthday.
Like many parents, my wife and I invested a great deal of thought into the celebration. We considered the theme, decorations, food, activities, and all the little details that would make the day special. More importantly, the party brought together family and friends who have played a meaningful role in our son’s first year of life.
The day moved quickly—as special occasions often do.
Looking back, I wish we had created a dedicated space where our guests could pause, gather, and capture the moment together. A thoughtfully designed photo experience would have given grandparents, relatives, friends, and children a reason to step in front of the camera and leave with something tangible from the day.
It would not have simply documented the decorations. It would have preserved the people, relationships, and energy surrounding that milestone.
That realization helped shape the vision for ARCHVD.
More Than Taking Pictures
A photo booth can easily be viewed as another event rental, but I believe it can serve a much greater purpose.
It creates a natural gathering point. Guests who may not otherwise take a picture together step into the frame. Different generations interact. Personalities come forward. People laugh, pose, reconnect, and create something they can take home.
It also gives the host peace of mind.
When you are hosting an event, you are often moving between guests, managing details, checking on vendors, and trying to enjoy the occasion yourself. It is nearly impossible to personally capture every meaningful interaction.
A hosted photo experience helps ensure that more of those moments are preserved without placing that responsibility on the person being celebrated.
Why I Invested in ARCHVD
I invested in ARCHVD because I wanted to help other people capture the moments I now wish I had preserved more intentionally.
ARCHVD—pronounced “archived”—was created around the idea that meaningful moments deserve more than a quick snapshot. They deserve an experience designed around the occasion.
Our approach combines professional open-air DSLR photography, studio-quality lighting, custom event visuals, digital sharing, printed keepsakes, and attentive on-site hosting. From the welcome screen to the final photo layout, every element is developed to complement the event rather than being selected from a generic catalog.
That is what we mean by curated photo experiences.
The goal is not simply to place a camera in the room. It is to understand the client’s vision, consider the guest experience, and create something that feels connected to the celebration.
Who We Hope to Serve
Based in Baltimore, ARCHVD is being built to serve clients throughout Maryland, Washington, D.C., and the broader Mid-Atlantic region.
That includes families celebrating birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, retirements, reunions, and other milestones. It also includes schools, universities, nonprofits, community organizations, businesses, and brands looking to create engaging experiences for their guests, employees, or customers.
The event may be personal, professional, formal, or full of energy. What matters is that the moment is worth remembering.
Creating Something Worth Keeping
Photos become more valuable with time.
A print that feels fun today may become part of a family album years from now. A group photo from a corporate event may capture colleagues who rarely gather in the same room. A picture from a birthday, wedding, or retirement celebration may eventually remind us not only of the event, but of exactly who was there to share it with us.
That is the heart behind ARCHVD.
I cannot go back and add a photo experience to every event I have hosted. But I can use those missed opportunities to help other people preserve their own celebrations more intentionally.
Because the decorations eventually come down, the guests return home, and the day becomes a memory.
The photographs are what remain.
